A mechanical brass calculator used by the ancient Greeks to predict solar and lunar eclipses was probably also used to set the dates for the first Olympic games, researchers said on Wednesday.

There is a modern version of this albeit a little more simplified and made of paper that calculates the day and date in any time zone. I think they give them away sometimes in show bags( county fair sample bags) etc as a toy sometimes too.

I think that it is the same thing. There are some that calculate tides and even when the chickens should hatch I think.
It is usually a larger circle with numbers on it and a smaller circle with numbers on it that you can turn and calculate what ever.
